17-year-old Johanne falls in love with her new French teacher, Johanna. Although her love remains unrequited, she begins to write about her feelings, which leads to tension within her family. Her mother Kristin and grandmother Karin are confronted with their own unfulfilled dreams and desires, raising questions about morality, ethics and sexuality.
The film offers an intimate and sensitive look at love, first feelings and the power of words as a means of coping with emotions.
