A beautiful, painful, terrifying and somewhat perverse retelling of the story of Cinderella, but from the perspective of the ‘ugly’ sister. Elvira lives with her mother Rebecca and her sister Alma, but she is always in the shadow of the beautiful Agnes, her stepsister after the marriage between Agnes's father and Elvira's mother. After Agnes's father dies, the hope for wealth turns out to be an illusion. Rebecca decides to do everything possible to ‘transform’ Elvira – through painful interventions, plastic surgery and all kinds of extreme measures – in order to get to the ball and win the attention of Prince Julian.

The film is a fresh take on the old fairy tale, drawing attention to themes such as the cult of physical beauty, identity, and social and patriarchal expectations.
